Cookie policy
Last updated:
The Mailfolk website uses the strictly necessary technical cookies and, only if you consent, Google Analytics statistics. No advertising, no profiling. Here you'll find what we store in your browser and why.
What we use
Theme preference
If you choose the light or dark theme, your choice is saved in the browser's local storage (localStorage), so it's still there on your next visit. It isn't a cookie, it isn't sent to any server, and you can delete it in your browser settings.
Site language
If you choose a language from the language menu, we remember it with the technical cookie mailfolk-lang, so we can show you pages in the language you chose. It only holds the language code (for example en), lasts one year, contains no personal data and isn't shared with third parties. If you don't choose a language, the site uses your browser's language and doesn't store anything.
Your cookie choice
When you accept or reject statistics, we remember your choice in the browser's local storage, so we don't ask you again on every page. Closing the notice with the X counts as rejecting. This isn't a cookie either, and it stays in your browser.
Technical cookies
Your account area uses technical cookies to keep you securely signed in: the session (authjs.session-token, up to 30 days or until you sign out), form protection (authjs.csrf-token) and the page to return to after signing in (authjs.callback-url). If you sign in with Google, authjs.pkce.code_verifier and authjs.state are added for a few minutes to verify Google's response. Over HTTPS the names have the __Secure- or __Host- prefix. They are only created if you sign in or sign up, are necessary for the service and don't require consent.
Payments
Payment takes place on Stripe's secure page, on a Stripe domain: the cookies needed to complete it and prevent fraud are set by Stripe, according to its cookie policy. There is no Stripe code on this site.
Visit statistics
If you press "Accept", we use Google Analytics 4 to count visits, app downloads and completed purchases, and to understand where visitors come from. The service is provided by Google Ireland Limited; the data may also be processed by Google LLC in the United States, which participates in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. We have turned off advertising signals and ad personalization: the statistics are not used to show you advertising.
The cookies are _ga and _ga_NL8WFSVY10, last up to 13 months and are only created after you give your consent. If you press "Reject", Google's code isn't even loaded. To learn how Google processes this data, read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Other third-party services
We don't use any others: no advertising, profiling or social buttons. Fonts and images are served directly from this site.
Your choices
Managing cookies
You can change your mind at any time: the button below, or the "Cookie preferences" item at the bottom of every page, reopens the choice and, if you withdraw your consent, deletes the Google Analytics cookies. You can also delete or block cookies and local storage in your browser settings; if you block the technical ones, some parts of the site may not work.
